Portfolio Analysis Reports

This report allows a user to make a performance analysis of a month of a given/ selected year for different portfolio types against some indicators from the beginning of the month to the end of it and by geographical areas.

This portfolio Analysis report can be used to make a pair-wise comparison of months of the same year and analyze the trend or even same months of different years to study specific trends in the business.

How to view Report on Portfolio Analysis

To view the report on Portfolio Analysis you go to Loans/ Analysis Reports/Portfolio Analysis. A screen like one below will appear:

• For which month?  From the drop down box, enter the actual month for which you want to generate the Portfolio Analysis report. e.g. "January" in the screen above.
• For which year?  Select the year for which you want to generate the Portfolio analysis report e.g. 2007. It should be noted that you can not produce a Portfolio analysis report for a future period i.e. beyond the log in date.
• Portfolio Types:  From the drop down box, select the type of portfolio report that is needed. There are five portfolio analysis types to select from.
• Statistical analysis: This portfolio type is used to analyze the numbers of group membership, drop outs, number of groups, loan applications, disbursement made, arrears and loans written off at the beginning of the month at the end as seen below:

• Disbursement and arrears: This portfolio type is used to analyze the Disbursement amount at inception, at the beginning of the month, accumulated disbursements since inception, Principle and interest in arrears at the beginning and end of month, Principle and interest in arrears paid for the month, new arrears in the months, loans written off in month total interest and principle paid in the month.
• Active and outstanding Loans: This portfolio type is used to analyze the principle disbursed and total interest active, principle and interest due till the end of month, principle and interest paid since inception till end of month, principle paid back for active loans, principle paid back for active loans till the end of month, Principle and interest prepaid this month, repayments for new disbursement, principle and interest in arrears till the end of the month, Portfolio at risk and Principle and interest outstanding till the end of the month
• Savings: This portfolio type is used to analyze the savings of the month, balance of savings, expected savings, loans amount written off at till the end of month, withdrawals for loan payments this month, portfolio at risk till the end of month, withdrawals for loan payments end of month, net savings till the end of the month and gross amount till the end of the month.
• Performance Indicators: This portfolio type is used to analyze based on other indicators like Arrears rate, quantitative repayment rate, qualitative repayment rate, savings to outstanding loan ration, portfolio at risk principle only, principle at risk as a percentage of total Principle and interest outstanding, total Principle and interest at risk and total Principle and interest at risk as a percentage of Principle and interest outstanding
• Branch Code: Select a branch for which you want to generate a report. In the example above, we have checked "For all" option to have a Portfolio Analysis report for all branches.
• Credit Officer:  Select from the drop down box a particular credit officer whom you want to generate a report about, this may be to see the Portfolio Analysis for clients who were handled by that officer selected. In the example, the "For all" option is checked.
• Loan Fund: From the drop down box, select a particular Loan Fund that you want to generate a Portfolio Analysis report, i.e. the loans whose repayments have been defaulted by clients that were got from a particular loan fund. The Loan Fund is set at Menu System/Configuration/Funds. In the example, the "For all" option is checked.

• Geographical Area: From the drop down box, you can select to generate a Portfolio Analysis report basing on the actual locations of the clients. For example Districts, County, Sub-County and Parish as specified in your settings under Menu Support Files/Geographical Area's. In the example in the first screen of this page, the "For all" option is selected in order to have a Portfolio Analysis report for clients from all geographical areas.
• Loan Product: From the drop down box, select a loan Product that you want to generate a report about. The Loan product depends on what was set at Menu System/Configuration/Products. You may have Loan Products like School Fees Loans, Agricultural Loans etc. In the example above, the "For all" option is selected in order to have a Portfolio Analysis report for all Loan Products.

• Business Sector: From the drop down box, select a business sector for which you want to generate a Portfolio Analysis report. This can be Agriculture, Industry, Services or any other depending on what you set at Menu Support files/Business Sector. In the example above, the "For all" option is selected to have a Portfolio Analysis report for all business sectors in the selected period.

• Grouping/Order: No information can be put here. It is inactive although the reports by default will be grouped by Geographical areas.

• Client Category 1: From the drop down box, select a classification of clients based on the settings defined at Menu Support Files/Client Category 1. In the example, the "For all" option is checked. The same applies for Client Category 2 and client Category 3.

• Loan Category 1: From the drop down box, select a classification of a loan that you made at Menu Support Files/Loan Category 1, it may have been a long term loan, short term loan etc. In the example, the "For all" option is checked. The same applies for Loan Category 2 and Loan Category 3.

• Guarantee Items: Select a class of items that were used as security for loans from the drop down box. These are set at Menu Support Files/ Loan Guarantee Items.
